Edge computing is a model that allows machines to process and store data close to where the information is needed. This lowers costs for bandwidth use and causes a decrease in latency. For example, implementing edge computing in cars would significantly assist many people driving in areas with weak cellular data, due to the on site data in the vehicle. Edge computing also enhances our ability to upgrade artificial intelligence, as has been seen in cases like security cameras. In the past, security cameras have been required to take film 24/7, and send all that data over to the security company to be sorted. With edge computing, security companies are creating a new feature where the camera senses movement or physical presence, and only then takes film. This allows for far quicker sharing and cuts network bandwidth usage as well. All in all, the increase of edge computing will brighten the future of technology and networking, with the potential of self driving cars on the horizon.

Networking, businesses, and daily life will continue to be heavily affected by all these trends.
